A condo function room doesn’t automatically mean mini buffet.
Sometimes the menu goes in the opposite direction.
For this delivery to a function room at Jalan Tembusu, the spread included:
Tajima Fullblood Wagyu Ribeye Roast.
Lamb Rack Roast.
Two Roast Chickens.
Garlic Butter Argentinian Shrimp.
Lemon Herb Salmon.
An Artisanal Sausage Platter.
Bacon Aglio Olio.
Mac & Cheese.
Truffle Mushroom Soup.
Caesar Salad.
Pumpkin Soup.
And Truffle Mashed Potatoes.
It was less “small function-room lunch”.
More:
bring a very large table.
Function Room Catering Can Be Premium Too
When people search for condo function-room catering in Singapore, the menus are often built around convenience.
Bee Hoon.
Rice.
Curry.
Finger food.
And that absolutely works.
But the venue doesn’t dictate the food.
A function room is simply the space.
If the occasion calls for something more substantial, there is no reason the menu cannot include premium roasts and seafood.
This order is a good example.
The gathering was still taking place in a residential function room.
The food just happened to include Wagyu.
Tajima Wagyu Gives the Table a Clear Centrepiece
The obvious hero was the Tajima Fullblood Wagyu Ribeye Roast.
A whole premium beef roast has visual impact before it is even sliced.
Once cut, the marbling and pink centre become part of the presentation.
That makes it useful for celebrations because it feels different from putting another tray of sliced meat onto a buffet.
People notice a roast.
Someone has to carve it.
Guests usually gather around.
Food becomes part of the occasion.
Then There Was Lamb Rack
One roast was apparently not enough.
The menu also included a Lamb Rack Roast.
That changes the flavour completely.
Wagyu is rich because of the marbling.
Lamb has its own stronger character.
Having both means guests don’t have to choose between beef and lamb when ordering.
They can choose when they reach the table.
Or, more realistically:
Take some of both.
Two Roast Chickens Keep the Menu Accessible
Premium menus still need familiar food.
That is where the two Roast Chickens help.
Not everybody wants Wagyu.
Not everybody likes lamb.
Roast chicken gives the table something almost everyone recognises.
It is also useful if children are part of the gathering.
You don’t want the only choices to require a lecture about marbling scores.
Sometimes people simply want chicken.
Seafood Stops the Menu Becoming One Long Roast
The seafood side included Garlic Butter Argentinian Shrimp and Lemon Herb Salmon.
This is important because the menu is already rich.
Wagyu.
Lamb.
Chicken.
Sausages.
Mac & Cheese.
If everything keeps moving in the same heavy direction, people eventually run out of appetite before they run out of food.
Salmon and shrimp give the plate somewhere else to go.
Different textures.
Different flavours.
Something other than another slice of meat.
Pasta and Mac & Cheese Make Sure Nobody Leaves Hungry
Then there was Bacon Aglio Olio.
And Mac & Cheese.
We’re fairly confident nobody was at risk of leaving hungry at this point.
The two pasta options also serve different people.
Aglio Olio is lighter and more savoury.
Mac & Cheese is comfort food.
Again, there is no need for one strict theme.
The menu is built around giving the group things they actually want to eat.
Two Soups Is Slightly Excessive — Which Is Probably Why We Like It
There was Truffle Mushroom Soup.
And Pumpkin Soup.
One is earthy and rich.
The other is sweeter and more familiar.
Do you strictly need two soups?
Probably not.
But at this point in the order, restraint had clearly left the building.
And that’s okay.
Some gatherings are not supposed to be restrained.
The Sides Matter More When the Proteins Get Better
Premium meat attracts attention.
But sides decide whether the meal works as a whole.
Caesar Salad gives some freshness.
Truffle Mashed Potatoes belong naturally beside the roasts.
Pasta gives people something substantial.
Soup gives the meal a different starting point.
The food starts to feel like a full lunch rather than several expensive proteins sitting beside each other.
Premium Roast Catering Is Not Only for Christmas
Roasts in Singapore get strongly associated with Christmas.
Understandably.
But there is nothing seasonal about wanting properly cooked beef, lamb, chicken or salmon for a gathering.
Birthdays.
Family celebrations.
Corporate lunches.
Private events.
Condo function rooms.
The cooking method works all year.
Christmas simply gives people an excuse to talk about it more.
The Venue Can Stay Casual Even When the Food Isn’t
That is probably the thing we enjoy about this kind of order.
You can be sitting in a condominium function room.
Kids walking around.
People talking.
Someone moving extra chairs.
Nothing particularly formal about the environment.
Then somebody slices a Tajima Wagyu Ribeye Roast.
Premium food does not require a formal dining room.
It simply needs to be prepared properly.
For this gathering, the venue stayed relaxed.
The menu did not.
